Hijacked

Today:

Hormones storming in with a blunderbuss to hijack all my good intentions for the day.

Coffee, with caramel.

Aleve.

George Harrison.

Clouds merging, drifting, taking fifteen for lunch, and lumbering back with full bellies and low motivation.

The house refusing to clean itself.

Stories refusing to write themselves.

Daughters fighting with each other. Daughters making messes. Daughters whining. Mother yelling. Daughters crying. Daughters napping. Mother in the kitchen spoon-feeding her guilt ice cream.

A sweater to combat the ice cream and cloud-cover chill.

More Aleve.

Renewed intentions to spend quality time with my girls, care for our home, catch up on creativity, and show those hormones who’s the boss around here…

Tomorrow.

  1. Sending you hugs today… Sounds like you need some, and a nap too. For yourself. Maybe during Sesame Street? I hate houses that don’t clean themselves. Totally worthless. Hormones suck.

And? I was looking around over here at Coffee Stained Clarity when I noticed “a daily dose of beauty” staring right at me. Hmmm. “That’s new,” I thought. Well. It WAS new. In January. Such beautiful moments you have captured. LOVED IT. And, loved this post too. We have all been there. I am there quite often if you must know. At least the ice cream tastes good.

  2. Oh, my friend. Bad, no good days where everything seems to derail are just the worst. One thing I love is that I have a new day coming right around the corner…and while sometimes, it only seems more of the same…another day I might fritter away…it is another chance for a new start and new habits. The other day I sat down and colored with Thomas. It was such fun! I have pictures that I’m going to share on my blog, but still, it was lovely to sit and be a kid again. I hope your days are much better, and soon. But in the meantime, enjoy the ice cream!

  3. Oh, and I just found the Daily Dose of Beauty, thanks to Megs for mentioning it. I love it! “Violin” is a huge favorite at our house, too – Thomas calls it ‘My-o-lin” and can sing the whole dang thing, in his own little way. It’s such a crazy song.

  4. Ditto me being late to the daily dose party, due to my usually reading you in my friends page reader on LJ. I love this post.

  5. Eek, I’ve been forgetting to update that. Thanks for the reminders and kind words, everyone!
